Selecting the Right Drip Tubing

When a building a dripping irrigation system, selecting the proper drip irrigation line is important. Depending on what you type of dripping frequency you want or need for your garden and plants, there are different kinds of irrigation drip tubing to fit your needs. Many types of drip tube are simply tube. You must drill or punch holes to add micro sprinklers or water emitters. This type of drip irrigation tubing is also called distribution tubing or simply drip line.

Also known as soaker tubing, porous drip tube or drilled sprinkler drip line comes with pre-drilled holes. With pores or holes already done for you, this type of micro irrigation tubing is easier to set up and use and takes less time because you don't have to drill or punch holes yourself.

Drip irrigation line comes in many different colors as well. Whether you prefer brown, black or green, you can get a color that matches your landscape. Depending on the kind of drip line you get, you may just cover it with dirt anyway.

There are different sizes of drip irrigation tubing from which to choose. The most common sizes are 1/4-inch and 1/2-inch in diameter. If you are converting a sprinkler system over to drip, you may need an adapter to do so depending on the size of dripping irrigation tube you desire.
