Automating Your Lawn Sprinklers with a Hose Faucet Timer

If you are watering your lawn with garden sprinklers attached to watering hoses, you may get sick of having to remember to turn water on and off all the time. You also have to time your lawn watering. This can be a hassle and take up a lot of your time.
Rather than worrying about your yard watering all the time during the summer, install a hose faucet watering timer on your garden hose spigot. You can easily turn your water hose faucet into a multi-station automatic sprinkler system by attaching a water timer and a multi-port manifold.
From the hose faucet manifold, simply connect your garden hoses that are attached to your lawn sprinklers.
There are two different types of automatic timers you can use on your hose faucet: digital or mechanical. Digital hose faucet timers require batteries for operation and have LCD displays with buttons and dials for easy programming and scheduling. Mechanical sprinkler timers are also known as manual water timers. Despite their name, they do automate garden watering. Instead of using batteries to operate, mechanical timers simply use a click dial to set watering times, intervals and durations.
Whether you decide to use a digital timer or a manual one, you cannot go wrong by automating your water sprinklers on a timed schedule. This saves you time and helps you conserve water.
